Volunteer Positions

Adoption Counselors - ACs
Perfect for the volunteer who likes matching potential adopters with the pet who is the right fit for them. Adoption Counselors (ACs) help visitors meet pets, and then walk them through the adoption process.

Caregiver: Work directly with animals by cleaning their kennels, providing food, water, love, and attention. Caregiver positions are available at the shelter.

Enrichment Team: Help to create items and activities to enrich the lives of the animals living in the shelter.

Event Ambassador: Promote responsible pet ownership at public outreach events such as community fairs, adoption events, open houses, etc.

Pet Chauffeurs and Wranglers: Pick up pets and supplies at the shelter and transport them to/from offsite events. Pet Wranglers promote the humane society at offsite events.

Photography and Writing: Help promote adoptable animals online with photos and biographies. (Writing and uploading can be done from home.)

Group Volunteering: We welcomes group volunteers, typically for one-time projects such as weeding, painting, cleaning, and event support. The minimum age requirement for group volunteers is 16 years old. Groups of volunteers between 12 and 16 people are welcomed as long as they are accompanied by a parent. For information about group volunteering, please contact us via email.

Available openings for each position vary, and training is provided. Other volunteer opportunities include data entry, fundraising, event staff, and special projects. Experienced volunteers often assume leadership roles. Volunteer positions are at the shelter unless otherwise noted.
